Mk Scouts AGM and Wayne Bulpitt

Carl and I skipped section meetings tonight and represented 1st Crownhill at the MKscouts district AGM. It was the regular business stuff but it's really important to support those who work at the wider level up. There were two visitors, the Buckingham County Commisioner and the guest speaker was Wayne Bulpitt, UK Chief Commissioner. Wayne gave a short speech and invited questions - it was a chance to ask some and I did.

I asked if the promise would change from specifically mentioning God to include those with no faith, as Guiding has dine recently. They are meeting to discuss this on Monday!

There was also a question about why so many people still think that girls cannot join after girls joining 20 years ago. Wayne felt all the publicity showed both genders and on the leaders side 48/49% are women, maybe a female chief scout would help. The other questions were about funding and community week.

An interesting evening and a chance to speak directly to the highest level of scouting. Thanks to Pat Pankhurst for arranging Wayne to speak and thanks to our dedicated District Commissioner, Mark Blomfield, district team of leaders and executive committee for all they do!
